We provide a range of free activities for young people aged 11-18 years, which are fully funded through the National Lottery Community Fund, The Police and Crime Commissioner’s Operation Payback Scheme, Together Fund, Community Foundation and the Masonic Charitable Foundation. These are designed to improve the health and wellbeing of young people, increase self-esteem and confidence, together with offering individuals an opportunity to become involved in activities they may not have tried previously.
We offer evening, day and residential experiences to young people to challenge the disadvantages they may face and provide some respite from stressful situations. Our evening activities include bowling, quasar laser, kayaking, power-boating, cycling, music club, drama and other creative arts. Our day and residential activities include spending weekends in various bunk-barns or youth hostels within the region e.g. Northumberland, the Lakes etc. and involve outdoor pursuits including coasteering or ghyll scrambling, which are fun and challenging.
Young people can join our Steering Group, which organises, plans, budgets for and evaluates all of the activities on offer to themselves and their peers. They meet fortnightly on Monday evenings between 5.00-7.00pm and are instrumental in influencing the way the charity operates and what young people really need to address their issues, whilst improving their overall wellbeing.
